Jennifer Edwards, ASW
I believe a safe and comfortable therapy environment is created through empathy, teaching, and humor.
Reaching out to a therapist can feel scary and takes courage; it can be hard to ask your support system for help. Or maybe you don’t know yet what you want to explore in therapy but you’re open. As a therapist, I use a strengths-based approach when working collaboratively with clients to identify goals and develop a plan to move forward and live their authentic self.
My Practice
My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, childhood/adult trauma, including PTSD, sexual abuse, aging, and end of life. I help people who feel hopeless and skeptical about change shift to a positive attitude with a focus on living their best selves. Furthermore, I work with individuals, couples, and families. As a licensed therapist in California, I utilize a holistic approach, integrating therapeutic treatments such as CBT, DBT, EFT, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
My clients range from adolescence through adulthood, families dealing with transitions and chaos, and couples. I work exclusively using TeleHealth (phone/video sessions). This is a great option for clients who cannot attend regular office appointments due to busy work schedules, commuting times, frequent business traveling, weather conditions, parenting demands, or health issues.
My Background
I have been a Social Worker since 2010 and worked as a Crisis Counselor/Victim Advocate for the Riverside Rape Crisis Center prior to completing my Bachelor’s in Social Work at California State University San Bernardino. I completed my Master of Social Work in 2020 at Widener University while working as a social worker for the Department of Children and Family Services. Most recently, I worked as a medical social worker for a hospice company.
Fun fact: I love animals, books, and road trips to unknown destinations. There is so much beauty and random exploration fun on road trips that I find it to be a great form of self-care!
